Nazaré

A village in deep connection with the ocean with a mystical feeling emanating from the foggy weather and old myths. The full power of the Atlantic crashes in on it every winter, yet it was braved by fisherman for centuries. It was the only source of food and income from the region due to a lack of fertile soil. A place really stuck in time and hardened by the dangerous lifestyle, full of traditions and beauty.

Nazaré is of course known as one of the most famous surf spots in the world. Giant waves created by a very unique underwater canyon which allows for all the swell energy to hit the coast. Every year this giant amphitheatre shaped hill becomes a show that is in my opinion a must see.
